Places to study

When you are 18 there are lots of places where you can continue your studies and training.

The places you can study at 18 are:

  • Further Education Colleges - offer vocational courses at all levels, including at uni level through Foundation Degrees and HNDs/HNCs.
  • Advanced or Higher Apprenticeships with an employer - offer a way to learn on the job, building up knowledge and skills, gaining qualifications and earning money at the same time. A Higher Apprenticeship will lead to a university level qualification.
  • University - offers a range of degrees in a huge range of subjects. Most degree courses are 3 or 4 years long.
  • Through work - many employers offer employees training related to their job role, this can sometimes be up to degree level. You can also study part-time with the Open University, through distance learning, so you can work/ look after children, etc. at the same time.
